Zhou Yu is a Mage hero in Honor of Kings.
Background[]
Between the interests of the family and Jiang's development, Zhou Yu, who cared deeply for the state and its people, chose the latter. Born into a noble family, Zhou Yu was compassionate and trustworthy, and his acquaintance with Sun Ce further fueled his determination to reform Jiang. The calm and proud noble son is sincere in his passion and willingness to sacrifice for his ideals, and that burning desire extends to his passionate love for Xiao Qiao as well.
Lore[]
There was a time as the ancient era drew to a close when the Continent was thrown into chaos. Only three regions in the east were spared the fires of war and continued to flourish. Guided by the culture passed down to them from Jixia, the three regions enriched themselves by different means: Wei specialized in forging iron, Shu was skilled in the arts of machinery, and Wu excelled at shipbuilding.
The Eastern Sea and long ocean voyages brought wealth and prosperity to Wu. Ships were the lifeblood of Wu, and those who controlled this lifeblood became rich and powerful. They monopolized ships and navigation routes. Content to lord over their small section of the world, they were obsessed with pleasure and searching for a way to extend their lives, unconcerned that Wu was falling apart. Zhou Yu was born to one of these leading families. A single question burned in his heart: "What kind of country will Wu become?"
Determined to find the answer to this question, Zhou Yu made the long journey to study at Jixia Academy. Fuzi's teaching gave him no direct answer. He and his fellow students debated day and night, searching for a theory, a method to bring lasting peace and order to Primaera.
In these debates, he always met his match in one student — Kongming.
While he could never beat Kongming in debate, Zhou Yu was convinced that his own ideas were correct. His opponent's empty, theoretical arguments reinforced his conviction that the ideal country could be built only through action.
So when Sun Ce invited him to return to Wu to build that ideal country, he went without a second thought.
Zhou Yu hoped to squash the pirates who had been tormenting the people. The land could only be at peace when the people did not live in fear of calamity.
When that day came, Wu would become the land of his dreams—a country of order and peace.
On the path to this ideal, he would have to face those who held absolute power: the aristocracy. Zhou Yu aided Sun Ce in amassing power and building an armored fleet. Their ships, while few in number, had powerful armaments. Against the tides and into the wind, they set sail for Jiang.
A brutal war ensued, but they brought the time of chaos to an end.
They punished the aristocracy and struck fear into the hearts of the pirates. Wu slowly began to rise again. While leading Wu, Zhou Yu met the love of his life: Xiao Qiao.
The daring Zhou Yu had finally realized his ideal.
Indeed, the path he had so resolutely chosen was the right one. Even though it required sacrifice, he would not turn away.
Sadly, Zhou Yu's glory was over in a flash. Disgruntled at their loss of power, the aristocracy hatched a plot to destroy Sun Ce. In that instant, it seemed Zhou Yu's dream of turning Wu into a powerful nation was to disappear along with Sun Ce. Fortunately, Zhou Yu took swift action, working with Sun Ce's sister Lady Sun to prevent the disaster.
Unfortunately, prominent among the names of the suspects behind the plot was the Qiao family.
The Qiao were a famous family of Anomalics. Under their magnificent finery hid great avarice and ambition. They were related to Xiao Qiao by blood... The Qiao had initially intended to sacrifice their heir, Da Qiao, to defeat Sun Ce. While their plan had been foiled by Zhou Yu's quick action, these enemies still lurked in the shadows, eager to try again. If they were to attack, would Zhou Yu lose his love, Xiao Qiao?
Terror gripped the heart of the Iron-willed Governor. Cruel fate had stripped him of his confidence. It would exact of him not a reasonable price, but rather his love, his brothers, his faith, and his bright prospects.
How much would this path of ideals cost him?
What kind of country would Wu become under the iron will and determination he'd always believed in?
Wu is ripe for a coming storm. The time has come for a resolution.
"I'm calling the shots here!"
