Mai Shiranui is a Assassin/Mage hero in Honor of Kings.

Background[]

As the sole heir to the Shiranui School, Mai Shiranui's combat skills were honed from a young age with her grandfather at the dojo. Upon learning of the Blood Clan's invasion of Kyokutou, she hastened to the scene, only to learn on the way that her grandfather had been killed by the Blood Clan. Driven by the inevitability of it all, as resolve, anger, and determination consumed Mai, she has grown determined to become the brightest flame on the battlefield.

The Shiranui School is one of the oldest ninjutsu schools in Kyokutou, having been founded in ancient times. Hanzo Shiranui, her grandfather, was the respectable leader of the School. As the only heir to the School, Mai Shiranui grew up training alongside other disciples in her grandfather's dojo.

After she reached adulthood, she kept dreaming about following in the silhouette of a man and calling his name over and over.

"I must really love this man," she thought.

Her family records contained details of a brutal conflict surrounding the Secret Tome, which was supposedly destroyed, but there were rumors of unauthorized copies, stained by blood, being passed around.

An ancestor that was involved in the conflict was also named Mai. Was this a coincidence, or...? The Mai from the history fell in love with the adopted son of the martial artist who possessed the Secret Tome. The silhouette of this man from another land, only described in words at first, eventually became the figure in Mai's dreams.

When Xu Fu sailed across the sea to Kyokutou to boast about the effects of the immortality pills, the nobles were charmed by his words. At some point, even the half-ferali disciples of the Shiranui School were captivated, and started working for Xu Fu. Hanzo tried to stop them, but his opposition fell on deaf years, and Xu Fu saw Hanzo as an obstacle.

And then news from the capital told of a ship that arrived from the west. Its foreign crew, with blue eyes and blonde hair, was under siege by the agitated Blood Clan. Mai was anxious... Was the man in her dreams one of them? She went to see her grandfather and requested to go to the capital.

Mai Shiranui left for the capital to search for the man in her dreams. But shortly after her departure, a messenger caught up with her and told her that Hanzo had been brutally slain by a traitor. Mai Shiranui realized that, like the Mai from her family records, she was now involved in the conflict over the Secret Tome and foreigners from another land.

HISSATSU SHINOBI-BACHI

Type: Passive

Periodically gains an enhanced Basic Attack that lets her dash while dealing damage and knocking back enemies in her path. After using an enhanced Basic Attack or any skill, she can roll and gain Movement Speed.

HISHOU RYUUENJIN

Type: Active skill

Dashes forward to deal damage and launch enemies in the target area. Recovers Energy upon hit.

KACHOUSEN

Type: Active skill

Throws her fan to damage and slow a target enemy while reducing their Magical Defense. Hits recover Energy. After it hits, the fan also deals magical damage to the closest unit behind the target.

CHOU HISSATSU SHINOBI-BACHI

Type: Ultimate

Dashes forward to deal damage and knock back enemies while reducing their Physical Attack. Recovers Energy upon hitting a target.

Mai Shiranui's most common skill combo is 2-1-BA-Ult-2.
Use Flash during Skill 1 to hit enemies at a surprisingly long range.
Any of Mai Shiranui's active skills could be used with Flash to surprise the enemies from long range.
A disadvantage of Mai Shiranui is that she is extremely slow when clearing the first minion wave, so to help Mai Shiranui to gain an advantage, she could be paired with an efficient support such as Guiguzi.
