Liu Bang

Liu Bang is a Tank/Mage hero in Honor of Kings.

Background[]

Putting one's own interests first has always been the main principle of Liu Bang, the great conspirator. Always an outsider amongst the pious peasant folk of the Riverlands, he was a man who truly believed that the end justifies the means. Oppressed by the ruler of his land, he devised a plan with his friend Liang to replace him: infiltrate one of the rituals of the followers of Omniscient, slay them, and devour the power from the ritual. Liu Bang firmly believes that fate is on his side, and thus his desire to rule was never going to be satisfied with just the Riverlands.

The Misty Marshes was one of the most mysterious areas of Primaera. A great river flowed through forests, swamps, and ancient ruins. The worship of ancient rulers could still be found there, and the power to interpret the faith belonged to the Omniscients. They used this power and the "Wonder" to rule over the people here.

As time went on, the Omniscients weakened because they were unable to adapt to the changing times. The order they established began to falter, and heretics started appearing among the devout people of the Riverlands.

Liu Bang was one such heretic. He had little patience for faith, and preferred gold over religion. To him, the end justified the means.

He did everything he could to eventually become a minor civil servant, but he quickly realized that what he got in return was not satisfactory. His superiors used him, but they were also wary of him. He was no fool, and eventually a bold idea came to mind. The Omniscients needed to perform rituals to display the ancient powers that only they could wield. If he somehow managed to perform the "Wonder," could he take their place and become the ruler of the land? The idea enthralled him.

But he would not have come up with it if it weren't for Liang, who, despite having mastered Power Word, didn't know the first thing about survival. He was causing trouble wherever he went, and couldn't even guarantee his next meal. Liu Bang helped him out and gained his trust, then easily convinced Liang to take him to the marshlands where the Omniscients performed their Wonder.

Liang was also curious about the Wonder.

Using Power Word, they charmed the guard and were able to witness the ritual. The nine Omniscients—and the two trespassers—were bathed in the blinding light of the Wonder as the Omniscients chanted. Liang spoke to the Wonder with his power, and the conversation proved that Ziya's predictions were true, including... the fate of the Dark Master...

When the Omniscients took off their masks, Liu Bang was surprised to find that the rulers of the Riverlands were not humans, but monsters!

And then an even more audacious plan formed in his head. He drew his sword silently and waited for the right moment...

Liang joined the fray, but he was shackled by Power Word and could not move. He could only listen to the Omniscients wailing as they turned into ash, and their power was absorbed by Liu Bang.

Liu Bang laughed maniacally. He had finally gotten a taste of the "Wonder," and completed the first step of his ambitious plan. He firmly believed that he was blessed by fate, and that a war of conquest had begun. The Riverlands had been waiting for a new king, and he was not going to let anyone else claim the title.

Royal Ambition

Type: Passive

Gains 1 mark every second, for up to 4 marks. Basic Attacks expend all marks, dealing additional magical damage per mark. At maximum marks, the next Basic Attack is enhanced into a ranged attack.

Dominator's Shield

Type: Skill 1

Grants himself a shield. If the shield is still intact when it expires, it will deal damage to nearby enemies.

Staggering Charge

Type: Skill 2

Charges up and dashes forward, damaging and stunning enemies in his path.

Battlefield Command

Type: Ultimate

Provides a shield to a teammate. After a short delay, teleports to the teammate and gains Movement Speed.

While laning, he should pay attention to the mini map and use his Ultimate to support allies when needed.
Use his Passive to keep enemies away, not recommended to engage close combat.
