Kui

Kui is a Support/Mage hero in Honor of Kings.

Kui dwells in the mysterious "door" of Chang'an, keeping a close watch on the path to Vacuity and the source of all wisdom that it leads to. Older than Chang'an itself, he'd step out onto Phoenix Street from the doorway in the dead of night and stroll about the quiet areas of a city that only rests once the sun sets. By night, anyone intending to harm Chang'an will be devoured by him and sucked into Vacuity.

Chang'an was the most prosperous city in the empire. A legend surrounding this city had long spread amongst scholars of the continent that Chang'an had been built upon a stone foundation that had existed since ancient times. This stone slab was the source of power for all the machinery of the city and was known as the "Heart of Chang'an."

The city "gate," an unobtrusive standing archway, dusty and covered in cobwebs, sat right atop the foundation stone. People passed the gate day after day, totally unaware of the protector who surveyed their every step. This surveillance had been constant for a long, long time.

That protector was Kui.

Since long ago—long before Chang'an even existed—Kui had stood within the archway and guarded it in silence. Humans built walls atop the great foundation stone, then divided the area into settlements and marketplaces, and eventually built an entire city, naming it "Chang'an." Thereafter, Chang'an grew prosperous, bringing together people from all around the world. Some of them had come to place sorcerous seals, some to transport dangerous machinery, and some had come with plots and schemes... But none of them escaped Kui's keen eyes and ears.

Yet Kui never meddled in mundane affairs and never intervened in any strife between humans. His only duty was to guard the foundation stone and the city built upon it. The city's power was tied directly to the Heart of Chang'an, and anyone within the city limits was powerless to resist such a force. As long as the stone was safe, Chang'an was safe.

When people passed the archway during the day, Kui would not appear before them. Only at midnight would the "gate" open, and Kui would step out onto Phoenix Avenue to begin his patrol of the city.

In the inky darkness of night, Kui's massive frame paced soundlessly through the streets and alleys of Chang'an. Upon discovering anyone who sought to harm Chang'an or those who coveted the mysterious power of its foundation stone, Kui would swallow them into a chaotic void that penetrated to the ancient past, burying them in eternal darkness, to be accompanied only by their shameful desires.

Every now and then, some sleepless citizen would catch a glimpse of Kui's silhouette from afar and mistake him for an evildoing spirit, giving rise to rumors of the "Ghost of Chang'an." But in the eyes of Kui, the only ghosts are those miscreants who seek to disturb the peace in Chang'an—who try to challenge him, and who deserve to be eliminated.

Despite the fearsome legend of the Ghost of Chang'an, there are still people unwilling to give up their covetous quest, eager to find a way to defeat Kui and steal the power contained in the "gate." In fact, such seekers seem to be in endless supply. Kui, however, is unwavering. He will faithfully carry out his mission to protect Chang'an and keep it free from any who seek to harm it.

Throws his chain hook in the target direction, damaging the enemy and pulling them to him. Upon learning this skill, gains a passive effect that increases his Health on defeats and assists.
