Kongming is a Mage hero in Honor of Kings.
Background[]
Kongming was known as a calm and collected genius at the Jixia Academy. However, his search for knowledge and the origins of the universe became an obsession that nearly consumed him. Under Zhuangzi's guidance, he left the school, and he soon realized that true knowledge rests out there in the real world. When his travels took him to the Three Kingdoms, where war had broken out, he joined forces with the city of Yi. Armed with his newfound understanding of the world and its people, he soon cemented his reputation as a brilliant strategist.
Lore[]
Even during his days as a pupil, Kongming was already regarded as the most gifted student in Jixia Academy's history, possessing truly exceptional intelligence and talent. Recognized as the successor to Fuzi himself, Kongming ranked first in all examinations, whether in sorcery, machinery, wisdom, or the art of war.
Yet Kongming cared nothing for such admiration and praise, instead focusing his efforts on the study of ancient knowledge. In the course of his research, he discovered that the origin, growth, destruction, and rebirth of Primaera were all closely linked to something that had once existed: the "origin of knowledge." The superbeings who had created civilization and built the Wonders had also made contact with the origin of knowledge, but after they exited the stage of human history, no one had made contact with it since.
As a youth, Kongming traveled to every corner of the continent in search of the origin of knowledge. He visited the ancient ruins beneath Jixia to make copies of ancient texts, and before leaving, he placed a magical ward to seal off the ruins from any would-be thieves. He had held in his hands Chang'an's greatest secret, and had journeyed to the ancient kingdom that had vanished amidst the desert sands...
He shuttled back and forth from one ancient ruin to the next, gathering wisdom and knowledge from all reaches of time and space.
Finally, he decided to settle in the kingdom of Shu to focus on analyzing all the information he had collected. Kongming's precious knowledge had always attracted the attention of unseemly characters. It is said that once, Zilong, the "Dragonshadow Spear," had visited Kongming's hut, intending to steal his collection. However, after approaching the cottage, Zilong was never seen again.
Among the many guests who came to visit Kongming, only Liu Bei, a member of the imperial family, was allowed to enjoy a cup of tea with him. Liu Bei requested Kongming's help in governing the kingdom, but Kongming refused. In his eyes, political concerns paled in comparison to exploring the mystery of the origin of knowledge.
The knowledge left behind by the superbeings was like a double-edged blade: sooner or later, it would be used for evil. Through his research, Kongming realized that dark forces were at play, manipulating the origin of knowledge to influence the course of history. He focused every bit of his powerful intellect, attempting to uncover the truth that had been hidden from mankind—a truth that just might turn the world upside down.
News from distant Kyokutou confirmed Kongming's fears: Xu Fu had reappeared. The Blood Clan, Xu Fu's monstrous creations, had been banished, but the damage they had inflicted could persist for decades to come. This event brought to mind the dark secrets Xu Fu had left behind in the Qin palace so many years before.
Another event shook Kongming's heart. He received news that his respected elder and friend, the famous archaeologist Cai Yong, had been murdered—along with his entire family. People said that the beast Cai Yong raised had turned to bite the hand that fed him, but Kongming noticed that his friend's precious documents, the product of arduous research, had strangely disappeared.
Kongming realized that a great storm was about to descend on the continent. It was time to leave the seclusion of his cottage to fight the evil that was misusing profound knowledge, to guard the world at large, and to reveal the hidden truth.
Finally agreeing to Liu Bei's request, Kongming served as the chief military strategist of the kingdom of Shu. With his cunning tactics, Kongming could control the outcome of battles even from thousands of miles away.
To face the coming war with Cao Cao, the ambitious Lord of Wei, Kongming decided to draw upon the power of ancient relics. He awakened the weapon of mass destruction concealed within the Red Cliffs, the Eastwind Altar, and researched the method for casting spirit bombs.
The world had become a grand game of Go for him, and he knew all the moves by heart.
"This world is like a game of Go. You have to think ahead!"
